The Kahua Story
We chose to build different.
Kahua was founded in 2009 with a single idea: construction software should work the way you do.
After building and exiting Constructware—the industry’s first internet-based collaborative project management system— Kahua’s founders had the opportunity to repeat a proven model. Instead, they chose to start over. They recognized that capital programs were getting larger, more complex, and more connected, but most construction software still forced customers to conform to rigid applications and workflows.
Instead of introducing another point solution, they built Kahua as a configurable platform that organizations could shape around their own processes, governance, and long-term objectives.
That decision still defines Kahua today. What began as a strategic bet on configurability has become an intelligent platform evolving with the industry—and supporting the next wave of lifecycle-driven innovation.

As co-founder and CEO Scott Unger reflected on Kahua’s 15th anniversary: “Since our solution offers users a solid foundation of industry-standard best practices but also allows users to build upon it as needed, we felt like Kahua was the perfect name.”
